You can register now for this training with 3 virtual sessions that are fun, interactive and engaging.

  • February 1, 2024
  • February 15, 2024
  • March 7, 2024

Each session is 2 hours long at 12:00 PM ET | 11:00 AM CT | 10:00 AM MT | 9 AM PT. Space is limited.

This is NOT a series of passive webinars.  It is a three step professional learning experience that will build your skills, expand your network, and require you to apply your learning in your work environment. You will be expected to attend all three sessions to complete the Asking Purposeful Questions training.

Questions are the beginning of a path towards discovery, imagination, and STEM exploration. How can we help youth expand and clarify their thinking and develop their reasoning through the questions we ask them? This module is designed for educators who would like to grow in their practice in facilitating STEM learning within a supportive group of other educators.  It is also a prerequisite for the rest of the ACRES modules.

ACRES, Afterschool Coaching for Reflective Educators in STEM, is different from other PD experiences offered by Click2Engineering.  ACRES During these sessions, you will learn more about Asking Purposeful Questions, practice this skill and, if possible, record yourself working with youth.  You can use a cell phone or camera – the recording only needs to be 3 minutes long. Then you will receive feedback, coaching and compliments from your coach and your peers when you share your video.

According to participants, the most impactful elements of the ACRES experience were interacting with peers and their coach, reflecting on their own practice, and observing other educators working with youth.  This model of coaching is widely used by schools to improve the quality of teaching. This is a great opportunity for some personal learning and growth.  No matter how experienced you are, you will grow through this training with an experienced ACRES coach, Tracy Truzansky.

Research on ACRES professional learning with informal educators shows that:

  • 90% of participants found ACRES to be useful to their practice as an educator.
  • 85% found taking an ACRES course enjoyable.
  • 88% are likely to take another ACRES module.
  • 89% would recommend ACRES to a colleague.

This opportunity, valued at $250, is offered at no cost to participants, for a limited time thanks to funding from the National Science Foundation grants #2115229, #1713134 and STEM Next Opportunity Fund. Registration is limited to provide the best learning experience – the expectation is that everyone will participate in all three sessions (not recorded) and be an active member of the cohort.  Register now so that you don’t miss out on this opportunity.
